Looking for some fun holiday events to enjoy between now and the end of the month? Here are some to consider…
Santa at the Galleria Mall
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to the big man himself, Santa Claus. The Galleria Mall in Fort Lauderdale has Santa set up on the upper level of the mall, waiting to talk and take pictures with your children. Santa, with his real beard, will be at the mall through December 24th.
City of Margate Winter Festival
The city of Margate will be holding its Winter Festival on December 19th. It will take place at the Margate City Center from 6:00pm-10:00pm. The free event will feature live music, kiddie rides, “Florida Style” snow, a twenty-four foot snow tubing slide, and an opportunity to meet and take a picture with Santa Claus.
Chanukah Under the Stars at Mizner Park Amphitheatre
Boca Raton’s Temple Beth El is presenting Chanukah Under the Stars at Mizner Park Amphitheatre on Friday, December 19th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The free event allows members of the local South Florida Jewish community come together to celebrate the holiday. Includes food, games, and much more.
The Polar Express
On Saturday, December 20th, the City of Boca Raton presents “The Polar Express” movie and activities at Mizner Park Amphitheatre. There will be free train rides and “snow” for children starting at 5:00pm. Kids are encouraged to come dressed in their pajamas, just like the children in the classic holiday book and movie. The free movie will begin at 6:30pm. Hot chocolate, pizza, and popcorn will be available for purchase.
Holidays at the Boca Raton Resort & Club
The Waldorf Astoria Boca Raton Resort & Club members and guests can enjoy such special events this month as a Chanukah menorah lighting and buffet dinner on December 20th; a Winter Carnival & Craft Fair on December 21st; and a Christmas Day buffet dinner on December 25th. Additionally, the resort is holding its second annual “Rock the Block” New Year’s Eve Party, featuring special musical guests Tone-Loc, SirenXX, and Norma Jean Wright & Lucy Martin, formerly of Chic.
Boca Raton Bowl
Along with the holidays, the end of the year is also time for college football bowl games. For the first time ever, the Boca Raton Bowl will be played locally at the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Stadium. The best of the American Athletic Conference and the Mid-American Conference will meet on December 23rd at 6:00pm, with the game being televised nationally on ESPN. Tickets are still available.
Rockin’ “Noon” Year’s Eve
This is a New Year’s celebration for children, taking place 12 hours before the celebrations for those children’s parents. On December 31st, the Young at Art Museum in Davie will be having its second annual Rockin’ “Noon” Years Eve Party, starting at 10:00am. The event will feature music, dancing, art, a colorful balloon drop, sparkling cider, a healthy eating demonstration, train rides, and a countdown to noon led by Miss Broward County.
